Hannah Hughes started with the trumpet. By 15, she'd picked up guitar, and from that point forward the question wasn't whether she'd make music — it was what kind. The answer, over time: the kind that builds an entire world.
As Planet X Hannah, she performs as a one-woman band — layering live guitar and vocals over backing tracks she creates herself. It's a total commitment to vision, and the results sound exactly like that: uncompromised, textured, and entirely her own.
Her debut double EP and the single "Loving Protector" (available on Bandcamp and SoundCloud) bring together the psychedelic, the garage, and the strange-but-catchy sensibility she learned from Jack White, The Doors, Ty Segall, and Devo. The music video for "In the Dark With Me" on YouTube gives those sounds a visual dimension that deepens the world she's building.
"When you listen to my music, you enter the planet of Hannah," she told us — and it's not a boast. It's a description. Influences from Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and the full sweep of psychedelic rock are processed through Hannah's own lens until they come out as something new: intimate and cosmic at the same time.
Planet X is a place worth visiting.
