A heavy riff can be the beginning of a much longer journey: a full album, a new favourite band, a community of listeners. In this conversation, Antoine of LeeRecs interviews Clint of Stoned Meadow of Doom (SMOD) about turning that urge to discover and share music into a home for underground rock.

Why Clint started Stoned Meadow of Doom

Clint recalls starting on YouTube while still in high school, frustrated with the mainstream music around him. He wanted people to hear contemporary bands carrying the heavy-rock spirit he loved. Exploring related artists on Last.fm and independent-label websites opened a path into stoner rock, doom and psychedelic music. Sharing full albums grew into an ongoing exchange as bands began sending him their releases.

The riff, and the people behind it

For Clint, the guitar riff is the centre of gravity. That focus leaves room for different underground styles, including post-metal and progressive metal, rather than a single prescribed sound. He values musicianship and the creativity of people making music because they care about it.

The community matters just as much. Clint describes a scene driven by enthusiasm for rock, its artists and its listeners. If discovering music through SMOD inspires someone to start a band or create something of their own, he sees that as a meaningful result.

Antoine’s LeeRecs vision

Antoine explains his vision for LeeRecs: artist storefronts, closer connections between musicians and fans, and physical releases and merchandise that listeners can keep. The discussion links discovery with support for the people making the music. These are the ambitions discussed in the interview; availability of individual release formats depends on the artist and release.

A possible LeeRecs × SMOD collaboration

Antoine proposes a founding-member invitation and further collaboration with SMOD. Clint responds positively to the idea of a dedicated home for underground heavy music and helping artists sell physical releases. Their exchange opens a conversation about what they could build together; it does not announce a finalized partnership or agreed referral arrangement.
